START OF TBL'S 2013 PROGRAMME
We at TBL completed our 2012 programme in November with our hugely successful Country Music Weekend at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool, starring the unique RAYMOND FROGGATT and his band. We open our 2013 programme, once again at the Norbreck Castle Hotel Blackpool with our fifth annual "KEEP FOLK SMILING" weekend which is a great mixture of Folk, Country and Irish music and a liberal helping of comedy, starring those brilliant Lancashire lads, THE HOUGHTON WEAVERS, who are resident for the entire weekend. This time the Weavers will be supported by the superb CAROLE GORDON & BOB NEWMAN, DARREN BUSBY, KEN DURRANS and we introduce a superb entertainer from North Wales, MORGAN REEVES. Our second event of the year is our annual Easter Monday to Friday mid-week break at Warner's superb Gunton Hall Holiday Centre, near Lowestoft, where once again a capacity crowd will enjoy performances from the likes of THE HENRY SMITH BAND, GARY PERKINS & THE BREEZE, WEST VIRGINIA, BLAKE & BRAZIL and many more together with superb accommodation and five-star cuisine. Aleays a terrific event which will be closely followed by our annual "BRENDAN SHINE & FRIENDS" Country & Irish weekend at Bracklesham Bay in Sussex.
We have another great year to look forward to and we hope you can join us at one of these events.

REPRINT OF THE FAMOUS "JOKE BOOK."
In 1983, Lazyacre Country Music Club published their first "Charity Fun Mag," a sort of joke book similar to a University Rag Mag containing risque jokes and cartoons etc. The club sold it's 2000 print run in no time, so the following year a second one was published. This went on for the next eight years until in 1990 a bumper issue was published containing all the material from the first eight plus some new material. This publication was huge success, selling all over the country and enabling the club to donate over £35,000 to a variety of national and local charities. When this was added to the club's other fund-raising activities, the club is proud to have donated over £120,000.00 to charity.
It is now over ten years since the joke book was on sale and in response to many requests we have issued a new publication entitled, "The famous Lazyacre disgustingly filthy Joke Book!" It contains over 300 jokes, cartoons, limericks etc. and it is now available at £2.00 (plus 50p postage) from Lazyacre CMC, 233 Lancaster Road, Shrewsbury SY1 3ND. Please make cheques payable to "Lazyacre CMC." For the last couple of months sales of the book have been supporting the BBC "Children in Need" Appeal and from February 1st, sales will be supporting the wonderful Midlands Air Ambulance Service, which saves lives right across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, West Midlands, Shropshire and Staffordshire.

TONY BEST WRITES. . . . .
TONY BEST WRITES. . . . . . After having retired from touring for some years, I did not expect to be releasing any more CD's. The only times I get to sing a few songs these days are at my Lazyacre Country Music Club in Shrewsbury or sometimes at one of our Tony Best Leisure events around the country. However, it was in response to many requests, we brought out in September 2006, a compilation album of twenty tracks recorded over the years when I was on the road playing the country music clubs and festivals. I have been singing country music since 1957, turning professional in 1974 and throughout the 1980's I was doing over 300 one-night-stands a year all over England, Scotland and Wales and abroad in such places as Holland, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Norway, Malta and Tenerife. In 1978, my wife, Jean and I started the Lazyacre Country Music Club in Shrewsbury, and we're delighted to say the club is still going strong (stronger than ever in fact) to this day. I was resident Compere at Pontin's Country Style Festivals for five years in the early 80's, before leaving to form my own company, Tony Best Leisure Ltd., to present country music weeks and weekends all over the UK and abroad. The company is now run by my daughter, Lynne, although I do still attend every event, helping to compere the shows and generally lending a hand when and where it is needed. I still thoroughly enjoy singing a few songs when I get the chance and I was proud to have been asked to release the CD which contains many of my favourite songs. The album is called - "A Golden Hour of Tony Best." The twenty tracks are..... Old Flames, Everybody' Talkin', Amanda, Try A Little Kindness, To Daddy, Let Me Be There, I Love You Because, The Most Beautiful Girl In The World, Maggie, I'm Beginning To Forget You, A Tree In The Meadow, Kelly, Before The Next Teardrop Falls, They Don't Play Rock Of Ages On The Jukebox, I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen, Old Scotland Again, Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast, Don't Tell Me Lies, The Answer To Everything. I have been delighted with the response to the release and it has received some very favourable comments generally. So much so,in fact, that many people have asked for a second album, so "A Golden Hour of Tony Best - Volume 2 is now available. Its another great mix of material and the nineteen tracks are..... A Bunch of Thyme, Angeline, Nobody's Child, San Antonio Rose, The Old Rugged Cross, Some Broken Hearts Never Mend, China Doll, Who Were You Thinking Of, Tou're My Best Friend, The Great "El Tigre," Today I Started Loving You Again, The Jimmy Brown Song, Roly, A Legend In My Time, I Don't Want To Cry, Turn Out The Light (Love Me Tonight), Mansion On The Hill, Catfish John, One Day At A Time. Both CD's are available at Lazyacre CMC and at all TBL events or by mail order from Tony Best, 233 Lancaster Road, Shrewsbury SY1 3ND. Price £7.00 each or the two CD's for £10.00 inc postage and packing. Cheques payable to "Tony Best." Thanks.
