TBL CELEBRATES 25 YEARS AT THE NORBRECK CASTLE

Tony Best Leisure Ltd. celebrated 25 years of presenting holiday events at Blackpool's Norbreck Castle Hotel with a splendid Country & Irish Music Weekend over the weekend of 9th/10th/11th July 2010.
There were great performances from such popular Irish artistes as the charismatic BOB BROLLY, Coleraine's CURTIS MAGEE and the lively PAT JORDAN with his great band, FINIAN'S RAINBOW. Add some good country music from that delightful duo from North Wales, IONA & ANDY, the very popular DAVE BRYAN and two more excellent solo artistes who also got together for a duo spot, MIDDY and STEVE CHASE. Another hit of the weekend was the superb STEVE CHERELLE of BBC Essex, who was resident for the weeken, as was DURCH'S DESPICABLE COUNTRY DISCO.
This was TBL's Event Number 283 since our first presentation back in 1985 and the company goes from strength to strength under the direction of Tony's daughter Lynne, although Tony and his wife, Jean, still attend every event and Tony is compere of all the shows.

TONY BEST LEISURE LTD

LEISURE LTD. Tony Best Leisure Ltd. presented it's first country music event in the Spring of 1985, with an All-Star Country Music Gala Week at Wallis's Holiday Village, Cayton Bay, Scarborough. This was followed up with three more events that year at Blackpool, Scarborough again and Weston-Super-Mare. Since that time TBL has presented well over 275 successful country music events at numerous venues at home and abroad. We completed our 2009 programme of events with a superb "Country & Irish" weekend at Blackpool's Norbreck Castle Hotel starring Ireland's brilliant BRENDAN SHINE & HIS BAND. 2010 sees us into our 25th year of operations, with continued successful events around the country. We opened our 2010 programme in early March with a full house for our second "Keep Folk Smiling" weekend starring the brilliant HOUGHTON WEAVERS, which was another great success. We follow this up with our annual Easter Monday to Friday Country Music Mid-Week Break at Warner's superb Gunton Hall Classic Resort in Lowestoft on the Suffolk coast, (which is now fully booked). Our third event of the year is our annual All-Star "Brendan Shine & Friends" Country & Irish Music Weekend back at the delightful South Downs Holiday Village, Bracklesham Bay near Chichester on the Sussex coast - always a brilliant weekend. This event is also fully booked so we have full houses for our first three events of this our 25th Anniversary year. Our annual Summertime country music weekend takes place in Blackpool in July and is a very special event as it celebrates TBL's 25th Anniversary at this superb venue. We mark this celebration with a great line-up of Country and Irish entertainment including BOB BROLLY, CURTIS MAGEE, PAT JORDAN & FINIAN'S RAINBOW, IONA & ANDY and many more (including a few surprises.) This weekend is always a huge success. We have another Summertime weekend in August, this time down at Bracklesham Bay at at very attractive budget price. We are then into our Autumn programme with two events starring the unique RAYMOND FROGGATT & HIS BAND and a full supporting programme of entertainment. The first of these two weekends is at Bracklesham Bay, Sussex in October and our final event of the year is at Blackpool's Norbreck Castle in November. LAZYACRE CMC'S 32ND ANNIVERSARY

Lazyacre Country Music Club opened its doors on Monday 6th March 1978, so the club has just celebrated 32 great years of country music in concert in Shrewsbury. The club meets fortnightly with very occasional variations and extra shows, and it has a great following. The list of artistes and bands who have appeared at the club reads like a "Who's Who" of country music in Great Britain, with many visiting artistes from Ireland, Europe and the USA. The club's 32nd Birthday was celebrated with a show on Monday 1st March, featuring that genial Irish entertainer, PAT JORDAN with his band, FINIAN'S RAINBOW. supported by the delightful CHRISSY BYRNE. LAZYACRE CMC 2009 AWARDS

The winners have just been announced of Lazyacre Country Music Club's prestigeous annual awards. At the end of each year, club members vote in four categories. Winners of the 2009 poll are AS FOLLOWS:- Most Popular Solo Artiste - CURTIS MAGEE (Runner-up - Travis Logan), Most Popular Duo - BLAKE & BRAZIL (Runners-up - Country Company), Most Popular Band or Trio - THE STEPHEN SMYTH BAND (Runners-up - The Brendan Shine Band), Most Popular Show - THE SWING COMMANDERS SHOW with DIXON.J. SCOTT (Runners-up - The Stephen Smyth Show. Congratulations go to all the winners.

TONY BEST WRITES. . . . .

TONY BEST WRITES. . . . . . After having retired from touring for some years, I did not expect to be releasing any more CD's. The only times I get to sing a few songs these days are at my Lazyacre Country Music Club in Shrewsbury or sometimes at one of our Tony Best Leisure events around the country. However, it was in response to many requests, we brought out in September 2006, a compilation album of twenty tracks recorded over the years when I was on the road playing the country music clubs and festivals. I have been singing country music since 1957, turning professional in 1974 and throughout the 1980's I was doing over 300 one-night-stands a year all over England, Scotland and Wales and abroad in such places as Holland, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Norway, Malta and Tenerife. In 1978, my wife, Jean and I started the Lazyacre Country Music Club in Shrewsbury, and we're delighted to say the club is still going strong (stronger than ever in fact) to this day. I was resident Compere at Pontin's Country Style Festivals for five years in the early 80's, before leaving to form my own company, Tony Best Leisure Ltd., to present country music weeks and weekends all over the UK and abroad. The company is now run by my daughter, Lynne, although I do still attend every event, helping to compere the shows and generally lending a hand when and where it is needed. I still thoroughly enjoy singing a few songs when I get the chance and I was proud to have been asked to release the CD which contains many of my favourite songs. The album is called - "A Golden Hour of Tony Best." The twenty tracks are..... I have been delighted with the response to the release and it has received some very favourable comments generally. So much so,in fact, that many people have asked for a second album, so "A Golden Hour of Tony Best - Volume 2 is now available. Its another great mix of material and the nineteen tracks are..... A Bunch of Thyme, Angeline, Nobody's Child, San Antonio Rose, The Old Rugged Cross, Some Broken Hearts Never Mend, China Doll, Who Were You Thinking Of, Tou're My Best Friend, The Great "El Tigre," Today I Started Loving You Again, The Jimmy Brown Song, Roly, A Legend In My Time, I Don't Want To Cry, Turn Out The Light (Love Me Tonight), Mansion On The Hill, Catfish John, One Day At A Time. TBL LTD. MOVES BACK TO SHREWSBURY
